Is there anybody out there Dec 27, 2003 10:46 a.m.

I recently requested the name of a reputable sitar repair store, individual etc., and did not get any responses. I would be willing to pay shipping etc. and need the intonation on my sitar adjusted - can anybody suggest anyone who might be willing to do this for a reasonable price - and a contact e-mail or phone number

RG,
I never replied to your earlier post because you wanted something within 100 miles of your location. If you want to send it out here I can fix it for you but first why don't you email me with a detailed description of the problem first and I'll be glad to help you fix it. . .

Thanks Lars,
I will get together a description tomorrow and post it - it really needs to have the fret placement looked at the intonation is totally off - sharp at the bottom of the neck

Lars,
As you know I brough a very cheap ($350.00) sitar off of e-bay. It was sold to me by Thump Music in Chicago. I have been plunking about but cannot keep the intonation clean. I know it is because of the Jawari positioning. I have done all of the harmonic tests which recommended on this site, and have moved the frets around quite a bit. Even placing some behind the tuning pegs for the sympathetic strings - when they were in front of it before. Unfortunately, as I was warned, that made matters worse. The sitar is now hopelessly out of tune. The intonation in the middle and upper octaves is always sharp. Therefore, I can't play up and down the neck.
I would like to have someone who knows what they are doing "tweak" the thing until it is playable again. I am willing to pay for shipping but would like an estimate before you begin work. Although I know that would be difficult without the sitar in front of you a ballpark figure would be OK. You can contact me at Goldberg@citynet.net with any questions or comments
