I need urgently a new set of sitar strings. But I don't want to pay 40 and more dollars, it seems to be very expensive for me. Does somebedy know about a web-link or other source with cheaper sitar strings? The best country is Czech Republic. Thank you!!

Dobre' Jitro Jirka,

There's lots of places in the US where you can buy strings, and even with shipping to the Czech Republic, they should be cheaper than $40. You should be able to buy generics for less than $10 and Pyramids for less than $30. The additional shipping should be much.

We have several members here from Europe who could perhaps supply distributers from there that might have cheaper shipping, but the strings likely will cost more.

Here are a couple of links, but there are lots more. I just happen to have these two handy:

I order bulk string from fortepiano.com. He carries Roeslau strings, which I think are pretty good. At least the tarabs don't break easily.

Hey!
try India Instruments in Germany. I'm sure Jens Eckert can give you good advice.
