For those who are interested: The "Concert For George" will be released on DVD and audio CD in Nov. I saw the official program from the show last night - the list of guest artists is incredible. Should be some great footage of Anoushka performing and conducting the orchestra.
Russ (Sep 15, 2003 06:45 p.m.): Finally a little recognition for the Dark Horse. I'll be on the lookout for it. If it was advertised on TV, I missed it 'cause I quit watching the tube a long time ago. Who's on the DVD?
The following is a blurb from Anoushka's web site:
In November 2002 Anoushka Shankar conducted a new composition of her father's at the highly anticipated "Concert for George," in honor of the late George Harrison at London's Royal Albert Hall. Ravi Shankar's beautiful new composition, Arpan, featured a guitar solo by Eric Clapton and performances by 43 musicians playing Indian and Western instruments.
Before taking the conductor's platform, Anoushka performed Mood Circle with Tanmoy Bose on tabla, and then joined Jeff Lynne for George Harrison's song The Inner Light. The second half of the concert took on a more rock and roll feel with headliners Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, Ringo Star and Jeff Lynne.
