Hi, sitar friends,

Please, you may foward the following letter to Heren Roy & Sons; since I do not have the Email nor the adress. Thanks. :-)

Heren Roy & Sons
Calcutta, India

The quality of your work is getting known woldwile. Thanks to the fine Art of the father and his teachings.

I have a second hand "Heren Roy & Sons" concert sitar since 1986. The original owner brought it from India in the early 80's or late 70's, before 1982 at least.

Question #1:

I wonder if it was made before Mr. Heren Roy passed away (not knowing when he left his body) ?

:-\ The upper gourd (lakadi ka tumba) was stolen :-\ from it's original owner by his sitar teacher, an Indian named Rahoul living in the Montreal area, in Quebec, Canada. The gourd was lend to him but he never wanted to give it back, :-)

Question #2:

How much another "Heren Roy & Sons" concert sitar upper gourd would be ?

I would like to know both costs: the gourd and the shipment to Quebec city . The original sitar case mesurements in inches for the gourd are :
9.5 diameter * 7.5 depth, (240 * 90 cm).

I don't mind carrying a bigger gourd in another case in order to amplify better the lowest frequencies. Cause I use the actual gourd emplacement for tools and extra strings.

Forgot to add. . .Hiren Roy passed away in 1992 I think. . . .Your sitar was most likely supervised/made by his son Hemangshu who sadly is also now gone. . . . .
