Hey, so i'm pretty new and I'm not sure how people here feel about the westernization of the sitar, like Harrison's work from the Beatles. Anway, I have a question, I was wondering if anyone knows how he tunes his strings to play Norwegian Wood?

Hi;
Well, my response to your post disappeared with the change in servers, so short answer here. I think most of us are cool with the "westernization" of sitar. No different than using guitar for either popular or classical music. But the sitar comes into its own when playing the music it was made for: classical.

Put Norwegian Wood on the spinner last night and played the lead on sitar. Sounds like George tuned the first string to a mid "E" and second string drone to a "B". I don't think any other strings were used for that tune.

Sometime in early 2001, Guitar Player had all the parts written out in staff notation.
