Hello all.

I am having problems in finding out the gauge of the strings which are used on the sitar. Can anybody tell me if there is a common set of gauges and if so what are the different gauges needed for the each of the strings.

Thank you if you can help.

Carl.

Hi Carl;
Yeah, I've run into that one too. Sitar strings are same as guitar in they come in light, medium and heavy gauge. Optimally, the gauge you use is the one the bridge has been cut for. But sometimes you jst have to go with something different. Many people have been promoting fortepiano.com as a good source for medium gauge sitar string. They also tell you the recommended gauges (nice touch). Might try them, located in Oregon.
