Im from Australia and there arnt any indian musical shops around. .welll not that i know of! was wonderring if anyone has a guide or technique for the proper re-stringing (new skin) of your tablas. tried doing it on one of my tablas but its quite hard to keep the skin balanced especially when its new!!! this eventually ended up with another ripped skin : ( someone help!!!!!!

A good guide is "Manufacture and Repair of Tabla" by David Courtney, available on my website and elsewhere. It will have everything you need to know!
You should secure the head on the shell with a rope first before lacing so you're not fighting to keep it straight. If you want someone to rehead it for you in Australia perhaps Brian Godden at Silverbush music or Bruce or Kalyan at AACM would know if there's anyone there that can do it, I don't know of anyone but I'm sure there must be someone. . .best of luck!
