Ive been learnig tabla for about 2 years now from here nd there, nd da other day i got my hand on an ektaal theka, after listein to some audio samples i couldn't figure out da bol "TRKT", for almost a month now ive looked all over i jus cant figure out da bol TRKT, iis da same as tirakita, but it doesn sound da same as that, its not da same as trekre, some help would greatly appreciated, plese help a bignner out
Hey ustad, yeah beenkarji is right. Trkt is shrt hand for tirakita. it sound diferent because it played much quickly and sometimes tabla players play traka. but the theka has tira kita and so it is best to play this. If in trouble you ask Warren or Jake who are very experienced in this art. It may be possible to ask the great Anindo Chatterji who logs on to this forum sometimes
