I bought a 5 1/2" tabla from India which was to be tuned at C. My friend picked it up for me, but the problem is that It is flat. I checked it on my tuner and it registers a C flat rather then a C. Every time I tune it to C, it will always eventually go flat on me. Is there any solution to this despite changing the skin?

What do u mean by C flat? You should be trying to tune it to C# I believe.

Well, Cflat = B, but I don't think that's the point here.

A 5.5" tabla should be fine at C or C#.

You just need to re-pull the straps tighter. It's normal for a new drum's skin and straps to stretch a bit at first.
