The fastest ways to play on the Tabla are
Ti Re Ki Te Ta Ka .... and so on and also, there are many variations that can be played very fast.
DireDire is fast, you can play them in triplets, tuplets, anything, remember tabla playing is esentially improvising so you can nearly what you wan't.

ps. sorry about the next thing, it came by accident

Ive seen TiTaKa in double time triplets and other timings. Also playing TiRaKeTeTakaTaka but changing to ringing tas to closed Ti and Ta sounds.

theres a very nice rela with that:

Ti Re Ki Te Ta Ka Ta Ka
Ta Ka Ti Re Ki Te Ta Ka
Ta Ka Ta Ka Ti Re Ki Te
Ta Ka Ti Re Ki Te Ta Ka
*Ki Te Ta Ka Ti Re Ki Te
Ta Ka Ta Ka Ti Re Ki Te
Ta Ka Ta KaTi Re Ki Te
Ta Ka Ti Re Ki Te Ta Ka

(*sam, its in teen tal)
all the 'extra' Ta's eg
Ki Te Ta Ka *Ta Ka *Ta Ka
(* is open Ta while Ta is closed)
you can do variations on the opens see what sounds good, i think this is the best way.
