As some of you might now i have been unable to play my tablas for a while but was finally able to pick them up from the person holding them. .they sound great! its gonna be hard and grueling though. .for now i guess im gonna teach myself and learn from stuff i see. .im working harder than i think i ever have! in about 3 days time id say i got in about 15-20 solid hours practice (woulda gotten more if it wasnt for stupid skool) well in any event,any help appreciated thanks !
Hey Aman great to hear this, describe your tablas a bit more? Where did you buy them? How big are the heads of the drums? great to hear youve been practicing alot. School also gets in the way of practicing for me. Are you planning on getting a teacher in the future?
yeah well my drums are great (as so ive heard they are wonderful sounding) in my opinion they are. .ive fooled around with tablas that were excellent as well as poor quality pieces of crap. .mine are definitely very good. .the bayan is 9 1/2 inches and the dayan is i 5 1/2 <- (i think) in any event yeah. .skool sux i wish i could jus drop out and play the drums all day. .unfortunately this is not reality i plan on getting a teacher sooner or later and have one in line in case i want to take lessons some time soon but not yet i dont think. .it will probably get in the way of my piano lessons and i certainly dont have money! for now im teaching myself and reading and relying on the advice of others. .only time will tell
HEY AMAN! Great to hear ya. Your tablas sound like they are the exact sizes mine are. Mine also sound very nice most of the time, except in the rain. I know exactly how you feel about school and practice time. I have been trying to get faster on the tabla and my arms have just been killing me from being sore. If i could play drums and guitar all day I would, But we all have to learn in school and then make decisions. So dont worry, as long as you get to practice at least a few hours a day.
